    QBS carefully check that all this free software works and is spyware and virus free. In fact we have the bulk of this software running on our own PC's, so you can be confident that downloading these programs should not trash your computer.

    However, because of the many configurations of computers out there we can never guarantee that there won't be any problems at all. Some of this software can be a bit difficult to use and if you are using software that adjusts your Windows registry (registry clean up type software) be particularly careful, and take a full back up of your registry before you start to run the program.

  • Defrag your Windows Registry Files with PageDefrag
    PageDefrag uses advanced techniques to provide you with what commercial defragmenters cannot: the ability for you to see how fragmented your paging files and Registry hives are, and to defragment them. In addition, it defragments event log files and Windows 2000/XP hibernation files (where system memory is saved when you hibernate a laptop).

  • Free Site Advisor plug-in for IE and Firefox
    If you are using Internet Explorer or Firefox download the free Site Advisor plug-in from McAfee.

    This links in with a database that rates how safe a web site is. The results are displayed in the form of a button. If it's a green button the site is safe to browse; amber suggests that you should treat the site with due caution and red means that the site is dangerous and should be avoided.

    If a site has not yet been rated by McAfee the button will be grey, but it will be queued for testing so keep checking the site until a definitive review is supplied by McAfee.

    Site Advisor also links to your search engine, so results are accompanied by appropriately coloured tick marks to give you an indication of the sites suitability. Just hover you mouse over the tick marks for more details.

  • Memtest86+ can test your computers memory
